Week 14 Special: How to Navigate Fantasy Playoffs without Gronkowski

What's a fantasy football manager to do? First week of playoffs and the legendary, if fragile, Rob Gronkowski suffers a season-ending ACL tear at the hands of the Cleveland defense. So here's the skinny on the tight ends that may be available to cover your rear end.

Owed in 75-66% of Leagues: If these guys are available, scoop them up now. These are kind of obvious names and all solid, so if they're available, jump on it.

  • Coby Fleener - He's one of Andrew Luck's favorite end-zoners, so he's usually good for a TD. Yahoo's projecting him at 46 points for the remainder of the season. Nothing to scoff at.
  • Charles Clay - Tannehill is targeting this guys like crazy. With Wallace and Hartline drawing the deep safeties, this guy's a PPR dream on the crossing routes.
  • Jordan Reed - Keep an eye on him. With his long-term concussion, he's been dropped in a lot of leagues. And with Washington's record, look for them to play it safe with this guy. But if he's reactivated, scoop him up. Look for him to see a lot of targets in the struggling offense.
Owned in <65% of Leagues: Some up-and-comers and sleepers here. Here's my best bets on your best shot to keep your fantasy team afloat if you're scraping the barrel. In order of how I'd suggest picking them up:

  • Delanie Walker - Though he's got a tough match up against Arizona next week, after that it's Jacksonville and Houston. Even in a loss, that's the best coasting to a Championship you could ask for.
  • Brandon Myers - Eli loves the hail mary, but coming into the bitter end of the season, the cold and the wind are going to start forcing the short passes. Myers has sure hands and a little push to break a tackle. He also has Hell for the next three games, followed by a squishy Washington defense for championship week.
  • Heath Miller - When he's not hitting Antonio Brown, Roethlisberger is looking for this guy in the end zone. Kind of boom-or-busty, but had decent match ups.
  • Garret Graham - A rough match up in 15, followed by a softer run. But he's part of an inconsistent offense. The only reason he's here is with hopes that Kubiak's firing will motivate this whole team to step up the game a notch.
